If you or your loved ones are residing in the Philippines, you must have used the GCash money transfer service. It is a popular mobile payment system in the Philippines. Founded in 2015, it has an average of 51 million users in the Philippines as of October 2021, according to Statista.com. This represents a 55% rise over the previous year’s average of 33 million registered users. Mynt owns and operates GCash, which is a Globe Telecom Inc. subsidiary. In recent years, the country’s digital economy has been developing rapidly. That’s why there’s a need to recover lost money on GCash.
This mobile money service enables users to store, send, and receive money using their mobile phones. It also allows you to pay for goods and services online or in-store using your GCash wallet. Once your account is created, you can start using it to transfer money, spend it on goods and services, or top up your mobile phone airtime. The money transfer process is quite easy and instant. But in case anything goes wrong while transferring money, you may need some methods to recover GCash money. Here are some possible solutions to the problem.
Method 1: Revert a successful GCash transaction to a wrong number
In this case, it’s best to contact the wrong receiver of the funds and ask for the money back. Alternatively, call or email the customer support team. If these strategies fail to work, send a ticket as demonstrated below. Though they’ll do their best, according to the company policy, only one digit must be incorrect, and the recipient must not have used or withdrawn the cash. You’ll need to submit a ticket to GCash and mention the following details:
- GCash mobile number
- Correct recipient number
- Wrong recipient number
- Date and time of transaction
- Amount
- Picture of receipt (if applicable)
- Transaction ID
After you send your request, a GCash representative will contact you within 24 business hours with an answer or other questions.
Method 2: Recover GCash money you didn’t receive after a successful transaction
So, you cashed in but haven’t received any money yet? If you’re lucky, you can wait a bit and see if it goes through. This is especially true with bank accounts since the funds take some time to arrive. Please wait at least 5 minutes in case the transaction was completed but delayed. Meanwhile, you can double-check your balance on the app or check the transaction details using the confirmation text message sent by 2882.
Also, double-check that the reference number was correct if you utilized PayPal, Western Union, or MoneyGram. Please check the receipt to ensure that the mobile number you typed in was correct. You may also attempt moving to a location with better internet connectivity, uninstalling and reinstalling the GCash app, or restarting it. If none of the preceding methods work, please submit a ticket like shown above. This time, fill out these bits of information:
- GCash Mobile Number
- Cash-in channel
- Amount
- Transaction date and time
- Transaction ID (Optional if it’s not a receipt or not applicable)
- Screenshot of receipt
Method 3: Retrieve money debited to a GCash account you can’t take from an ATM
If the money shows in your account, but you can’t pick it up from an ATM (Automated teller machine), the ATM may not have cash on hand or a system problem occurred. GCash can issue the money within one to two business days following the incident, and this should reflect in your account within a day or two. If you still don’t get your money, you should forward a ticket once again, but with the following details:
- Description of your concern
- Your name
- Your mobile number
- Date and time of transaction
- Amount
- Bank or ATM name/location
- Location
- Screenshot of the transaction (if available)
