How to Restore OPPO Phone

OPPO phones are known for visual appeal, incredible cameras, large internal storage capacity, and potential for spacious external storage. And while those features motivate users to store personal, educational, and professional data, they can be their downfall. Users sometimes get locked out or reset OPPO phones to factory settings, occasionally accidentally. The phone can also stop booting to the home screen or loading any or some of the files. Regardless of the problem, the result is identical; a catastrophe. Luckily, you have us by your side to teach you how to restore an OPPO phone. Let’s start.

1. Recover OPPO Phone by resetting sign-in methods

Forgot your access password/code, the pattern? Didn’t configure biometrics, OPPO phone doesn’t request them, or they don’t work? You’re in a tough spot. You might have to sacrifice some or all your data, sadly. Fortunately, you can retrieve shortly using any of the methods below. With that said, here are 3 ways to unlock an OPPO phone with a forgotten password or pattern:

1. Boot factory reset method

Turn off your OPPO phone before following these steps to unlock OPPO phone:

1. Press and hold the Volume Down and Power buttons together.
2. Release hold of the buttons once you see the OPPO logo.
3. Use Volume buttons to select a language. Press the Power button to confirm the selection.
4. Utilize Volume buttons to select “Wipe data and cache” or “Wipe data/factory reset”. Press the Power to proceed.
5. Select “Yes” and press the Power button to confirm.
6. Choose “Reboot” and press the Power button again.
7. Configure new log-in methods after the reboot.

2. Use Android Device Manager

OPPO phones run a version of Android, allowing you to use a Google account you’re logged in to. Here’s how to reset lock screen measures via Google Device Manager:

1. Visit the “https://www.google.com/android/devicemanager” page in your browser.
2. Sign in with your e-mail address or phone number and password.
3. Tap or click on Lock.
4. Enter a new password for the lock screen.
5. Click or tap on Lock again.
6. Enter the password you just set up to restore OPPO phone access.

3. Use Google Find My Device

This method will wipe all data on your phone. Scary, but useful if your phone was lost and stolen, and the perpetrator changed the settings. With that acknowledged, follow these instructions to restore OPPO smartphone via Find My Device:

1. Follow steps 1 and 2 above.
2. Tap or click on Erase device.
3. Select Erase device again.
4. Choose the Erase all data menu, then the Erase option.
5. Go ahead and configure new log-in methods.

2. Restore OPPO phone from a local backup

If you’ve made backups on the internal storage, SD card, removable hard drive, or your computer’s hard drive, now’s the time to dust them off. Once they’re on the storage of your OPPO phone, proceed in these ways: 

1. OPPO backup

Created a local backup using the ColorOS interface in the past? Follow these instructions to recover data from an OPPO backup:

1. Tap on Settings in the app drawer.
2. Go to Additional Settings.
3. Tap on Back up and reset, then Local backup.
4. Alternatively, tap on Tools, then Backup and Restore.
5. Decide which data you want to retrieve based on the file size and backup time and select the file.
6. Put the checkmark in front of the data you want to be retrieved. That can be Contacts, Applications/Application Data, Call History, Messages, System Data, etc.
7. Tap on Start and wait for the progress bar to reach 100% completion.

2. Third-party backup (Situational)

OPPO doesn’t recommend this method due to privacy and security risks and conflict with ColorOS. But, if you made a backup via third-party apps or software in the past, using this technique can oftentimes be your last resort. Who cares how you restored the OPPO phone, as long as you did?

3. Download OPPO phone data from cloud backup

In the absence of a local backup, you take what you can get. Here’s how downloading data from a cloud back to an OPPO phone works:

1. OPPO Cloud/HeyTap Cloud

OPPO Cloud, later HeyTap Cloud, is a built-in method of storing data online. It stores SMS, phone records, system settings, and other personal data up to 5 GB for free. If you enabled it in the past, these are 2 ways to recover the aforementioned data:

• From a computer: Visit “https://cloud.heytap.com”. Sign in with your HeyTapID and password to see available files.
• From your OPPO smartphone: Login by going to Settings > Sign in to Your OPPO ID/HeyTap ID. Tap on OPPO Cloud Backup or HeyTap Cloud. Scroll down, select the backup file, and tap on Restore.

2. Google Drive

Enabled syncing to Google Drive or previously manually backed up your data on your OPPO smartphone? Do the following to get OPPO data from Google Drive:

1. Open Google Drive from the app drawer.
2. Sign in with your Google e-mail address or phone number and password.
3. Select one or mark multiple files. Tap the download icon (downward-facing arrow) or select Download in the menu.

4. Clone OPPO phone (Situational)

If you have an old OPPO phone with data on it, you can transfer it wirelessly to your new one. So, do this to restore an OPPO phone via data migration:

1. Open the Clone Phone app on your old OPPO phone.
   Tip. The application is usually pre-installed. If it isn’t, download it from the Play Store.
2. Tap on the This is the Old Phone option on the old phone, and This is the New Phone on the new phone.
3. When asked, scan the QR code on the new phone using the old phone.
4. Using the old phone, select the type of data you want to transfer.
5. Once you’re ready to migrate data, tap on Start Cloning.
6. Wait for the migration of data to complete.

5. Recover OPPO phone using data recovery software
