Samsung account grants free access to various services for owners of Samsung products such as smartphones, TVs, tablets. This includes automatic backups, bookmarks, and settings, data transfer or syncing across devices, Bixby assistant integration, and health, camera, payment, power saving, security features, and more. Users can also sign in to websites owned by Samsung or its partners or get access to Samsung Members (previously named mySamsung), a free app available on the Galaxy Apps and Google Play Store. With that said, let’s get into how to recover a Samsung account.
1. Recover Samsung account without password
We’ll begin with the most common reason for losing access to a Samsung account. Follow these steps to restore a Samsung account with a forgotten password:
- Head on over to the Samsung Account page and click on Sign in.
- Now click on Find ID or Reset password below the Sign in button.
- Switch over to the Reset password tab in the upper right corner.
- Enter your Samsung ID e.g., registered e-mail address, and click on Next.
- Verify that you are the account owner by inputting the details such as your name and DOB.
- Click on the Reset password button.
- You’ll get an “Email has been sent” notification. Click on Go to inbox or open your e-mail client.
- Open the e-mail you received from Samsung and click on the Reset password button or copy/paste the link below.
- Enter your new password twice, and log in after you get a “Password reset successfully” message.
- Reminder. You might have to complete the 2-step verification.
2. Recovering Samsung account ID
The method above works perfectly if you can remember your Samsung account ID (e-mail address). But what if you don’t, and you can’t find it? Don’t fret, the company has thought about this. They provided the following solution:
- Follow steps 1 and 2 above to get to the Find ID tab. Alternatively, open the Find ID page directly.
- Enter your first and last name and the date of birth. Click on the Find my id button.
- You’ll now see a “Check your information below” window. Your Samsung ID will be partially hidden.
- Utilize the newly discovered ID to complete the method above and restore access to the Samsung account.
3. Change your Samsung ID, then the password
The hint wasn’t clear enough? Can’t access your Samsung ID, even if you know it? Here’s a workaround, although you must be logged in to a Samsung phone or tablet:
- From the app drawer, tap on Settings.
- Select Cloud and accounts or Accounts and backup on some models.
- Go to Accounts.
- Tap on your Samsung ID (the e-mail address will have “Samsung account” below).
- Tip. If you couldn’t remember Samsung ID to use in method 2, now you can.
- Go to Account information or, on some models, Personal info.
- Tap on Email, delete the old, and enter a new e-mail address.
- Tap on Save and enter a verification code you received as an SMS to confirm the decision.
- Sign in and change your password using method 1 for additional security.
- Tip. If you cannot edit the e-mail and only see a Sign out button in the top right corner, you’ll have to use the method below.
4. Recover Samsung account without phone number
Sometimes you may not have access to the phone number you used to set up your Samsung account. In this scenario, you have a couple of options left. If you connected your email ID with the account, you can use that. Everything will be very easy that way. But if not, there is going to be some trouble. Essentially, there are only two ways you can recover your Samsung account. Using your email ID or phone number. Losing access to both unfortunately means losing access to your account. The next best option you have is contacting their support following the steps mentioned in method 6 in this article.
5. Recover Deleted Samsung Account
Accidents can happen, and your Samsung account may get deleted with a single tap of a button. If you were operating your account while talking with your friend, and your unconscious mind just kicked in and everything went wrong. Even if it sounds silly, similar situations can happen for 1 in a million. But unfortunately, there is no way you can get back your Samsung account “unless” someone from their support is willing to do so. Again, your best option is to move forward by contacting their support. There is no way available online which you can do the recovery of a deleted Samsung account yourself.
6. Contact Samsung Customer Support
To demonstrate ways of contacting Samsung, we’ll use the United States as an example. Once you visit the link below, Samsung will redirect you to a local version of their website and display available options for your county. So, after visiting the Samsung Support page, you can reach out by:
- Calling. Dial 1-800-SAMSUNG or 1-800-726-7864. “Mobile Support” is available 8 AM – 12 AM EST, Monday – Sunday. Contacting “IT/Computing Support” is possible 8 AM – 9 PM EST, Monday – Friday.
- Texting. Send HELP to 62913 to talk to Samsung Experts and Samsung Care Pros, 24/7/365.
- Webchat. Click on the Get support button > Chat with us in the Message us section or click the floating message icon in the bottom right corner.
